The new clinic is up and running and all is going really well. It is so much better for the dogs coming for hydrotherapy as there is more space, better ramps and only a short distance from the car park. The owners also have a better time with the ample parking and tea/coffee in the waiting/recovery room.
I have had a lot of dogs coming for treatment who have been suffering from cruciate damage.
The cruciate ligament is actually 2 ligaments, cranial and caudal, which sit in the knee or stifle joint and support the dogs hind legs.
These ligaments can either rupture fully or partially tear and they can cause a lot of pain and discomfort when damaged.
Take care over the hard ground and especially when it has rained and the ground is slippy as this is when your dog can slip and twist which can result in the damage to the stifle joint.

All very busy at the pool this month.
The colder weather is highlighting a lot of dogs (and humans) with arthritic joints.
Heat and gentle massage can relieve a little discomfort of these joints.
There are many joint supplements on the market which can also help.
Green lipped muscle can act as a natural anti inflammatory agent for swollen joints.
Glucosamine is helpful for maintianing healthy cartilage in joints.
Chrondrotin can help where the cartilage is damaged

We seem to be having some very mild weather at the moment. Great for clean dry dogs and much better for running on.
